Happy New Year 2015

The composition of this year's card coalesced from almost one hundred folders together holding more than ten times as many photographs. Numerous themes emerged and then almost as quickly disqualified themselves. Bicycling. Sailing. Bicycling and sailing. Bicycling and sailing with Betsy. Jimmy Buffett.

But several images from San Diego wouldn't let go.

I captured the La Jolla sunset panorama at the end of March in three separate shots with my fantastic Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS19 compact camera. I hadn't planned to stitch them together ... they more or less just lined themselves up together on their own.

A business trip with my elearning employer Medallion Learning afforded me the chance to get out from under a cold New England winter. I extended the visit by a few days that my friend Marc took advantage of to introduce me to family and friends and drinks at the beach.

Fear not, next year's card will almost certainly pivot squarely back to bicycling. The calendar's already filling with big, mostly new events. Rasputitsa. Battenkill. Boggs Enduro. Fingers-crossed, Leadville. Familiar venues will round out the second half of the calendar. D2R2. Quadcross. Gloucester. Providence. Orchardcross. Ice Weasels. Because Ice Weasels!

Here's wishing you all the best for a truly fantastic 2015!
